Transformation of the symbiotic alga Oophila amblystomatis: a new tool for animal-algae symbiosis studies

چکیده
The ability to conduct reverse genetic studies in symbiotic systems is enabled by transgene expression and transformation of at least one partner. relationship between the yellow spotted salamander, Ambystoma maculatum, green alga, Oophila amblystomatis, a unique model vertebrate-algae symbiosis. Despite over 130 years scientific study, there are still many open questions this Transgene partner will accelerate research into relationship. In paper we describe tool method for foreign DNA in, presumed of, alga O. amblystomatis. We successfully introduced heritable antibiotic resistance algal cultures, observed fluorescent reporter protein all transfected presumably transformed populations. outcomes work enable manipulation allowing direct testing hypotheses derived from gene or genomic that usher deeper understanding A. maculatum-O. amblystomatis system.

The Symbiotic Anthozoan: A Physiological Chimera between Alga and Animal.
The symbiotic life style involves mutual ecological, physiological, structural, and molecular adaptations between the partners. In the symbiotic association between anthozoans and photosynthetic dinoflagellates (Symbiodinium spp., also called zooxanthellae), the presence of the endosymbiont in the animal cells has constrained the host in several ways. It adopts behaviors that optimize photosynt...
متن کاملEstablishing a new animal model for muscle regeneration studies
Skeletal muscle injuries are one of the most common problems in the worldwide which impose a substantial financial burden to the health care system. Accordingly, it widely accepted that muscle regeneration is a promising approach that can be used to treat muscle injury patients. However, the underlying mechanisms of muscle regeneration have yet to be elucidated. The muscle structure and muscle...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Analysis of Algal Symbionts Associated with Four North American Amphibian Egg Masses
Egg masses of the yellow-spotted salamander Ambystoma maculatum form an association with the green alga "Oophila amblystomatis" (Lambert ex Wille), which, in addition to growing within individual egg capsules, has recently been reported to invade embryonic tissues and cells. The binomial O. amblystomatis refers to the algae that occur in A. maculatum egg capsules, but it is unknown whether this...
متن کاملTranscriptome analysis illuminates the nature of the intracellular interaction in a vertebrate-algal symbiosis
During embryonic development, cells of the green alga Oophila amblystomatis enter cells of the salamander Ambystoma maculatum forming an endosymbiosis. Here, using de novo dual-RNA seq, we compared the host salamander cells that harbored intracellular algae to those without algae and the algae inside the animal cells to those in the egg capsule. This two-by-two-way analysis revealed that intrac...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
